Occupational Health Nurse
Draslovka
Occupational Health NurseThe responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:Serve as the primary clinical responder to workplace injuries, illnesses, and chemical exposures. Perform triage and assessment, deliver first aid and emergency care within scope of practice and site medical protocols, stabilize patients, and determine the appropriate level of care — onsite treatment, referral to the occupational medicine provider, or activation of EMS and transport.Maintain site readiness for exposure events specific to Covoro's chemistry, including stewardship of cyanide antidote inventory (stock levels, expiration rotation, secure storage, and controlled access), written exposure-response protocols reviewed with the site physician, and pre-established coordination with local EMS and receiving hospitals. Participate in emergency drills and post-drill critiques.Manage occupational injury and illness cases end to end: initial evaluation, referral into the state-required physician panel, ongoing communication with treating providers, tracking of work status and restrictions, coordination of transitional and light-duty placement with supervision and Human Resources, and case closure at return to full duty or maximum medical improvement. Serve as the site's day-to-day clinical contact for the workers' compensation third-party administrator.Provide the clinical input that drives OSHA recordability and case classification decisions under 29 CFR 1904 — including the first aid versus medical treatment determination — and support accurate, timely maintenance of the OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 records. Maintain employee medical records in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1020, including required retention for the duration of employment plus 30 years.Own the scheduling, execution, tracking, and completion rates of the site's regulated medical surveillance programs in coordination with the occupational medicine provider and testing vendors, including respirator medical evaluations (29 CFR 1910.134), hearing conservation audiometry (29 CFR 1910.95), hazardous waste operations surveillance where applicable (29 CFR 1910.120), substance-specific surveillance and biological monitoring appropriate to site chemistry, and any legacy-exposure surveillance carried forward from prior facility ownership.Conduct or coordinate post-offer, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations against documented essential job functions. Communicate work restrictions and functional capacity information to Human Resources and management without disclosing underlying diagnoses and serve as the clinical resource supporting the ADA interactive accommodation process and FMLA administration.Support administration of the site's drug and alcohol testing program, including reasonable suspicion and post-incident testing logistics, specimen collection or vendor coordination with proper chain of custody, and interface with the Medical Review Officer. Maintain clear separation between testing administration and disciplinary decision-making.Partner with EHS and industrial hygiene resources on walkthroughs, exposure assessments, and job hazard analyses; contribute occupational health input to Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) reviews; lead ergonomic assessments and corrective recommendations; and administer heat stress and cold stress prevention programs appropriate to the Memphis climate and continuous shift schedule.Trend injury, illness, exposure, and clinic-visit data to identify emerging patterns, and escalate findings with recommended interventions to EHS and site leadership. Provide clinical perspective on shift-schedule and fatigue-related health risk in a 24/7 operating environment.Develop and deliver site training in first aid, CPR and AED use, bloodborne pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030), heat illness recognition, and chemical exposure first response. Provide medical training and skills maintenance to Emergency Response Team members and shift first responders so that credible response capability exists on every shift.Design and administer site health promotion and wellness initiatives, including screenings, immunization clinics, health education campaigns, and referral pathways to the Employee Assistance Program, coordinated with corporate benefits offerings.Manage onsite medical facility operations: equipment inventory and calibration (AEDs, audiometers, spirometers), support for eyewash and safety shower verification, medication and supply stocking within protocol limits, medical waste handling, budget input, and vendor and provider contract coordination.Maintain employee health information in confidential files stored separately from personnel records, consistent with ADA, GINA, and HIPAA requirements as applicable.Perform other related duties as assigned. To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferredCurrent, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee, or eligibility for Tennessee licensure (including multistate compact privilege) by date of hire.Minimum of three years of clinical RN experience.Current BLS/CPR and AED certification.Demonstrated ability to assess and act decisively during medical emergencies while maintaining composure and sound clinical judgment.Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential health information, with the personal integrity to maintain that confidentiality under pressure from any level of the organization.Ability to be medically qualified and fit-tested for respirator use and to wear required personal protective equipment in an operating chemical plant.Availability for emergency callout and off-shift consultation in support of a 24/7 operation.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work within electronic occupational health, EHS, and HRIS systems. The following is preferred for this role:At least two years' experience in occupational health, emergency, critical care, or industrial nursing.Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or COHN-Specialist (COHN-S) through the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses.Working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements (29 CFR 1904) and the medical surveillance provisions of 29 CFR 1910.Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or other high-hazard PSM-covered manufacturing.Experience supporting a represented (union) workforce and working within a collective bargaining agreement.CAOHC-certified Occupational Hearing ConservationistNIOSH-approved spirometry certificationDOT-qualified urine specimen collector and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)Case management certification (CCM or COHN-S/CM) with demonstrated workers' compensation cost-containment results.Emergency Response Team, HAZMAT, or prehospital care experience.Experience with occupational health information systems (e.g., Cority, Medgate, or equivalent)ACLS certification.Benefits:Competitive CompensationComprehensive Benefits Packages401(k) MatchTuition ReimbursementLearning & Development opportunitiesStrong Inclusion & Diversity initiativesCompany-paid volunteer daysWho we are:Draslovka is a global supplier with a family business approach focused on the future of our planet. We are an international team driven by a shared goal and guided by our core values:We put safety firstWe always do the right thingWe build strong relationshipsWe act like business ownersWe constantly reimagine what's possibleWe specialize in the manufacture, distribution, and application of Cyanide (CN)-based chemistries, with more than 100 years of experience in CN chemistry and production for chemical synthesis, mining, industrial, and agricultural applications.
