Position Summary

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is responsible for promoting recovery and wellness, fostering participant engagement, and providing clinical and crisis support services tailored to individual needs. Our program offers a range of mental health, substance use, and related support services in a supportive community-based setting for children, families, and adults. The MHP is expected to maintain current knowledge and develop proficiency in program-recommended Evidence-Based Practices to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

Clinical Provider Pathway

We offer a tiered professional development model for clinical providers based on education, experience, and licensure status. Each tier reflects a unique stage in a provider's career journey and outlines opportunities for growth, supervision, and impact.

Tier I - Experienced Bachelor's Level Professionals

• For professionals holding a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field with 5 or more years of experience in a high-risk, crisis-oriented, and fast-paced mental health setting. Providers in Tier I demonstrate strong frontline experience and crisis management skills and will work under supervision to support client stabilization and engagement, while continuing to develop advanced clinical competencies and documentation skills.

Tier II - Unlicensed or Limited Permit Professionals

• For professionals who are unlicensed or hold a limited permit (e.g., Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field) and are actively working toward licensure. Providers in Tier II will operate under close supervision, focusing on building foundational skills in treating co-occurring disorders while progressing toward full licensure.

Tier III - Entry-Level Licensed Professionals

• For professionals with initial licensure (e.g., LMSW, LMHC without diagnostic privileges, LCAT, or equivalent) who are developing their independent clinical practice in co-occurring disorder treatment. Providers in Tier III receive ongoing supervision and training, gradually increasing their independent clinical and documentation responsibilities.

Tier IV - Intermediate Licensed Professionals

• For professionals with advanced licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMHC with full diagnostic privileges, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent) and demonstrated competency in treating co-occurring disorders. Providers in Tier IV function with a high degree of independence, contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives, and provide mentorship and supervision to Tier IIII staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments, establish diagnoses, and develop treatment plans
• Provide individual and group therapy, crisis counseling, and safety planning
• Collaborate with consumers, families, and community partners to support recovery
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and agency initiatives
• Ensure compliance with agency, state, and federal regulations
• Utilize evidence-based practices and contribute to quality improvement
• May serve as a NYS designee if licensed and eligible

Qualifications

• Meet one of the following Tiers;
• Valid NYS Driver's License and ability to travel.
