HR Coordinator - $23-$30/hr


Location: Clackamas, OR
Pay: $23.00-$30.00/hour
Shift: Day Shift


A local metal recycling company is seeking an organized and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to support the HR Manager and executive staff with a variety of administrative and employee-related functions. This position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, excellent computer skills, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Job Description


The HR Coordinator will assist with HR administration, employee records, payroll preparation, benefits, recruiting, training systems, workers' compensation, and DOT compliance. This position will also provide support to multiple company locations throughout the Portland metro area and may require occasional travel to Eastern Oregon and Washington locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's HRIS database, including new hires, contact information, timekeeping, departments, and supervisor assignments
• Assist with employment verifications, garnishments, writs, child support, and insurance support orders
• Review employee timecards for accuracy before payroll processing
• Create and maintain employee personnel electronic files
• Ensure employee records are stored accurately in appropriate areas, including training, medical, and garnishment records
• Assist with hiring, including job postings, candidate review, and interviews
• Assist with benefits enrollment for new hires, qualifying events, and open enrollment
• Assist with DOT file management and required documentation
• Upload and maintain files in third-party systems
• Assist managers and employees with required documentation
• Assist with user account management and reporting in the company's LMS training system
• Assist with processing and tracking Workers' Compensation claims
• Complete required Workers' Compensation forms and maintain OSHA 300 logs
• Support the consistent application of company policies and procedures
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
• Provide Spanish/English interpretation if bilingual
• Support the HR and Safety Departments as needed
• Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned
• Follow all company safety policies and standards

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous HR or administrative experience preferred
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and inaccuracies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred
• Ability to travel between company locations as needed

Work Schedule


Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Travel Requirements


Approximately 50% travel between company locations in the Portland metro area several times per month, including Clackamas, Gresham, Portland, St. Helens, and Longview. Quarterly travel to Eastern Oregon and Washington locations such as Hermiston and Prosser may also be required, weather permitting.

Pay Rate


$23.00-$30.00/hour
