About the Role
The Company is seeking a Senior Associate Vice President for Innovation and Strategic Ventures to lead the translation of research and creative activities into high-impact ventures, strategic partnerships, and economic value. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing an integrated innovation enterprise, aligning licensing, venture development, and innovation investments to accelerate the progression of discoveries from the academic environment to the market. This role requires a leader who can champion and support faculty and clinicians in their entrepreneurial endeavors, ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the innovation enterprise through the design of diversified funding models. The Senior Associate Vice President will also be accountable for the effective positioning with external funding sources and will play a central role in managing and scaling funding programs that support the commercialization of research. Applicants for this position at The Company should have an advanced degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience totaling over 15 years. A strong background in innovation management, capital strategy, and research commercialization is essential, with a proven track record of leading research groups and managing professional teams. The role demands a strategic thinker with excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills, as well as a deep understanding of intellectual property law, licensing practices, and startup formation. Experience in a large, research-intensive public university or academic health center is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to the public mission and academic values, and the ability to translate vision into executable plans, with a focus on fostering an entrepreneurial culture and strengthening the innovation pipeline.
