CALTRANS MAINTENANCE MANAGER II

Overview The Maintenance Regional Manager, under the general direction and supervision of the Deputy District Director (DDD) of Maintenance and Operations, is a career executive assignment responsible for implementing, evaluating, and sustaining major programs and maintenance policies in the assigned Maintenance Region. The incumbent advises and consults with top‑level district and statewide management, and proposes new programs, directions, or legislation as appropriate. Responsibilities Implement, evaluate, and sustain major programs and maintenance policies in the assigned Maintenance Region. Advise and consult with top‑level district and statewide management. Propose new programs, directions, or legislation as appropriate. Analyze and evaluate field performance data to ensure goals and objectives are met consistently with Department policies and guidelines, and within budget allocations. Oversee field staff and balance multiple priorities to meet performance measures and program goals. Represent Maintenance with both internal and external customers, demonstrating effective communication. Minimum Requirements Classified as Caltrans Maintenance Manager II; salary range $8,625.00 – $10,724.00 per month, with new‑to‑state candidates hired at the minimum salary of the classification. Pass a Drug Screening prior to hiring. Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License; required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted (no longer than two pages, 12‑point Arial font). Completion of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 and all other required documents. Eligibility based on the Caltrans Maintenance Manager II examination and state civil services examination list. Working Conditions Work location: 691 S Tustin St, Orange, CA 92866. This position may involve travel to field sites. The work may be performed in a wide range of sometimes‑extreme conditions, including heat up to 110°F, cold to –30°F, strong winds, rain, dust, noise, and uneven surfaces. Normal shift is Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; night shifts may be scheduled with advance notice.
