As a Pharmacy Technician Intake, you'll play a critical role in the patient journey by reviewing referrals, verifying prescription information, creating patient profiles, and partnering with providers to ensure every referral is processed accurately and efficiently. What You’ll Do Review incoming referrals to ensure all required information is complete, accurate, and ready for processing. Create and maintain patient and provider records within pharmacy systems. Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy prior to processing. Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions, resolve missing information, and provide referral status updates. Accurately document referral activity and progress notes to support seamless workflow across teams. Enter and maintain provider information, including National Provider Identifier (NPI) data. Perform high‑volume data entry while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support timely patient access to specialty medications. Troubleshoot and resolve referral‑related issues using sound judgment and problem‑solving skills. Support additional pharmacy operations and patient access initiatives as needed. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification in good standing. Active Pharmacy Technician registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) . Prior experience working in a pharmacy environment. Strong data entry and computer skills with a high level of accuracy. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast‑paced setting. Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of pharmacy operations experience. Specialty pharmacy, medication access, or referral processing experience. Experience in a call center or high‑volume healthcare environment. Familiarity with provider data management and NPI systems. Strong documentation and problem‑solving abilities. Healthcare industry experience beyond pharmacy operations. Why Join Us? Monday‑Friday schedule with no weekends or major holidays. Work Environment This position is based in a professional, call center‑style specialty pharmacy setting where team members collaborate to help patients access critical medications. Most communication occurs through phone and electronic systems, with no direct face‑to‑face patient interaction. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST and is closed on weekends and major holidays. During the initial reverification project period, the schedule will be onsite Monday‑Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM . After project completion, schedules may transition to 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM , with potential hybrid work opportunities for permanent team members based on business needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cary, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
