Job Summary

Join a dynamic 26-bed Medical-Surgical unit in New York, specializing in comprehensive care for orthopedic, neurology, bariatric, and total joint replacement patients. This unit is recognized for its accredited Bariatric Program and Total Joint Program of Excellence, offering a challenging yet rewarding environment for skilled Registered Nurses.

The unit features 22 private rooms and 2 semi-private rooms, fostering a patient-centered care approach. It operates at a fast pace with high energy, emphasizing strong teamwork and accountability among staff to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse who thrives in a specialized Med/Surg setting and is prepared to float to other units as needed, contributing to the overall flexibility and operational efficiency of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care to a diverse adult population on a Medical-Surgical unit.
• Manage and coordinate care for patients undergoing orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, and total joint procedures.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, administer medications, and implement nursing interventions in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, disease management, and health promotion.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and accountability in all aspects of patient care.
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality.
• Float to other units as assigned based on facility needs.
• Note: This unit does not provide telemetry monitoring services.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Medical-Surgical setting, preferably with exposure to orthopedic, neurology, bariatric, or total joint patient populations.
