Senior AccountantThe Baltimore Orioles are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and providing financial reporting and analysis that informs strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills and a passion for excellence.Lead the ballpark event accounting and reportingInvolvement with the partnerships invoicing and accounts receivable agingPrepare entries for debt accounting and recording on interest and other related chargesEnsure proper accounting of intercompany expensesPrepare fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and prepaid/amortization schedulesLead and participate in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation with the goal of getting to a 10-day closeEnsure compliance with GAAP and organizational policiesAssist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiriesApply strong knowledge of debits and credits to support accurate and compliant financial statementsIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracyCollaborate across departments to gather financial data and provide guidance as neededAssist with special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and financial modeling as neededBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field requiredCPA certificationMinimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirementsProficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlinesAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentHigh degree of integrity and confidentialityExperience in professional sports, entertainment, or hospitality industriesFamiliarity with MLB financial policies, revenue sharing, and league reporting requirementsSpanish language proficiency (written and spoken)Excellent understanding of finance principles and comfortable with making assumptions and projections to support sourcing decisions.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.This position is based on site in Baltimore, MDOccasional evening and weekend work may be required during the season or fiscal deadlinesThe statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position. The anticipated salary for this role is $85,000-$95,000 annually depending on experience, plus bonus opportunity.
