Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Night Shift in Peoria, Illinois

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250

• Unit: Surgical Acute Medical-Surgical
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating holiday coverage
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting System: Epic

Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license, or confirmation that the Illinois RN license application process has been initiated
• Medical-Surgical, acute-care, or post-operative nursing experience; post-operative experience is strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated critical-thinking skills and the ability to recognize when additional clinical support is needed
• Strong communication skills, a professional bedside manner, and a team-oriented approach
• Willingness to float to units requiring a comparable level of nursing experience

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for post-operative surgical, trauma, and medical overflow patients in an acute-care setting
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, monitor patient progress, and communicate changes to the care team
• Manage wound care, dressing changes, drains, nasogastric tubes, central lines, IV therapy, and pain management
• Provide care for patients receiving total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and monitor treatment response
• Support patients requiring telemetry, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Deliver patient and family education while promoting safety, comfort, mobility, and recovery
• Document nursing care accurately in Epic and collaborate with providers, patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, and other clinical partners
• Participate in unit operations, including floating when needed and working collaboratively within established patient assignments
