Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; Friday and Saturday nights
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting System: EPIC
• Patient Population: Adult acute care medical-surgical patients

Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois licensure process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or acute care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Clinical experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• EPIC experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred; experience in a Level I trauma center may be considered in place of prior travel experience when paired with EPIC experience
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients with conditions including sepsis, cellulitis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health concerns, and addictions
• Complete nursing assessments, administer medications, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Care for patients with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes according to established clinical standards
• Manage and monitor ordered therapies, including heparin and furosemide infusions, without routine titration responsibilities
• Review telemetry information available through bedside and computer-based monitoring systems and escalate concerning findings
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Participate in floating assignments to other acute care areas, which may include nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, or oncology
• Support safe admissions, transfers, discharges, patient education, and accurate EPIC documentation
