Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Short Stay Unit | Peoria, Illinois

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 9, 2026
- End Date: February 8, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour day shifts
- Shift: 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
- Unit: 13-bed Short Stay Unit with an approximately 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Patient Population: Stroke, trauma, cardiac, and general medical-surgical patients, including UTI, COPD, and cellulitis
- Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call Requirement: No on-call requirement
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or confirmed Illinois licensure application in progress
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or general acute-care nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong medical-surgical assessment, medication administration, and direct patient-care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-turnover, fast-paced Short Stay Unit
- Flexibility to float to other departments as needed; nurses without higher-acuity experience may support the team in a help-all capacity when floated
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical-surgical, neurologic, cardiac, and trauma-related conditions
- Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes in condition
- Manage admissions, discharges, transfers, patient education, and care coordination in a high-turnover acute-care unit
- Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders, facility policies, and professional nursing standards
- Care for patients receiving BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen when ordered
- Use house-wide telemetry monitoring and collaborate with the care team; independent EKG strip interpretation is not required for this assignment
- Document accurate and timely patient information in EPIC
- Collaborate with patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to other departments when needed and contribute to safe, team-based patient care
