Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday Schedule: Rotating holiday coverage
• Call Requirement: None
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Dress Code: Any scrub color

Med-Surg RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois or confirmation that the Illinois licensure process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or acute care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated experience with postoperative patient care, wound care, dressing changes, drains, nasogastric tubes, central lines, IV therapy, pain management, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
• Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking skills, communication, and bedside manner
• Ability to work collaboratively and request assistance appropriately
• Willingness to float to units requiring a comparable level of experience
• Successful completion of required drug screening

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to postoperative surgical, trauma, medical overflow, and other acute-care patients
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, manage IV therapy, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Deliver wound care and dressing changes while monitoring drains, central lines, nasogastric tubes, and nutritional therapies
• Support pain management and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
• Care for patients receiving heparin infusions according to unit protocols; independent titration of drips is not routinely required
• Collaborate with patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, monitor technicians, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Use Epic for accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation
• Participate in unit orientation, including precepted shifts and professional orientation
• Float when needed to areas aligned with the nurse’s experience and competency
