Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• This role reports directly to the Associate Chief of Staff for Surgery and is tasked with ensuring the effective delivery of clinical and surgical care throughout the medical center while adhering to compliance standards.

• Mentors interns, residents, medical students, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and is eligible for a clinical appointment at a partnering university.

• Provides patient care that is compassionate, suitable, and effective, focusing on health promotion, illness prevention, disease treatment, and end-of-life care. Comfortable in offering training and guidance to support staff assigned to the unit.

• As a chief, you will spend five days a week in the clinic or operating room, with 20% of your time allocated for administrative duties.

• This supervisory position involves overseeing an average of eight direct reports and two residents.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.

• Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is mandatory.

• Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, complete, and unrestricted medical license in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

• Residency: Successful completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty is required.

• Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Urology and eligible for an academic appointment.

• Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience.

• Academic Affiliation: Collaboration with a recognized academic institution.
