Cybersecurity Consultant, Application Security - Greensboro

Salary: $102,000 - 142,000 per year Requirements:

• We require at least three years of experience in software or application development.
• We require at least one year of experience in application security, such as source code review or dynamic analysis.
• We require a bachelors degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Social Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, plus at least six years of experience in IT or a related field, including at least two years in information security, network engineering, or application development. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of the degree.

• We review application source code for potential security weaknesses using both manual and automated testing on running applications.
• We work with DevOps teams to integrate application security services and help train them and our developers on security tools.
• We partner one-on-one with developers to explain vulnerabilities and recommend remediation approaches.
• We help identify application security training paths and build security awareness across teams.
• We protect production applications by enrolling them in continuous threat assessment programs, evaluating web application firewalls, tuning WAF rules, reviewing alerts, and investigating issues.
• We support business-specific projects by planning work, coordinating resources, meeting deadlines, and following procedures and policies.
• We collaborate across functions to resolve complex problems, escalate critical risks, and improve business outcomes.
• We communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences and provide remediation guidance to stakeholders and management.
• We work with technology risk and business teams to respond to findings, strengthen security posture, and determine the best remediation strategy.
• We assess the impact of security test plans on upstream and downstream components.
• We share threat intelligence and vulnerability assessment data across cybersecurity teams and support integration procedures.
• We contribute to security knowledge assets through process improvements, brown bag sessions, and training materials.
• We track KPI targets and performance metrics on an ongoing basis.
• We recommend security process improvements aligned with best practices and business goals.
• We help develop, implement, and maintain standardized security tools, templates, and processes across multiple business areas.
• We perform complex security test data analysis, including root cause analysis, in support of vulnerability assessments.
• We act as an escalation point for security testing issues, dependencies, and risks.
• We execute vulnerability assessment and penetration testing plans across multiple IT domains by analyzing business and technology requirements.
• We research industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices to uncover vulnerabilities and recommend security solutions.
• We provide input on testing scope and approach and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to review the overall testing strategy.
• We validate security test scenarios across different SDLC phases, including development, reproduction, and production.
• We produce scheduled reports and regular security metrics for IT teams and management.
