About the Position

Experience with trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion, and care. Ability to perform telemetry interpretation. Experience with care coordination and discharge planning. Description: This position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The facility has 637 licensed beds and offers a range of services including trauma care and teaching programs. The unit has 23 beds with a patient census of 10-23. Common patient types include those recovering from hip, knee, and shoulder replacement surgeries, as well as bariatric and spinal surgeries. RNs will manage patients requiring cardiac drips and insulin drips, among other treatments. The typical patient ratio is RN 1:4-6 and LPN 1:4-6. Support staff will include CNAs who assist with vital signs, glucose checks, and patient mobility. There is an interdisciplinary team in place for care coordination. Nurses will be responsible for patient education related to renal and fluid management. Technology includes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment for monitoring and patient care. There is no on-call requirement for this position. Nurses are expected to work one major holiday each season. Weekend shifts are part of the scheduling expectations, with a rotation of 5-6 weekends out of 12. The unit culture is described as busy with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
