This role is key in overseeing daily operations, leading the production of high-quality products, and ensuring efficiency and timeliness in the creation of baked goods. The Assistant Manager – Bakeshop also emphasizes fostering a positive, collaborative work environment, while holding the Bakeshop staff accountable to the highest standards of cleanliness, hospitality, and performance. In addition, the Assistant Manager – Bake Shop will be instrumental in managing ordering and inventory, ensuring the accurate fulfillment of special and custom orders, and assisting in the development and introduction of new products that enhance and align with the vision of the HL Bake Shop.Location: 3065 Route 50, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866Job Type: Assistant Department ManagerSchedule: Full-Time, evenings, weekends, and holidays requiredPay: $23.00-25.31/hour (previous experience taken into consideration)Experience:At least 5 years baking experience in a professional kitchenAt least 2 years management/strong supervisor experience, preferably in a professional kitchen or restaurant environmentExperience in executing systems and procedures to provide for efficient and productive kitchen operationsKnowledge of food procurement and inventory managementPrevious experience working with local, organic products and familiarity with standards regarding local, organic produces is preferredKey Responsibilities:Produces Bakeshop products and follows menu rotation as instructedFollows all Healthy Living recipes exactly as writtenMaintains consistent quality products and makes product to HL standardsFollows the production numbers provided by R&D ChefKnows when modifications are permissible and how to properly record the changesEnsures all finished products are labeled appropriately and stored according to department protocolFollows the protocol for recording production and wasteMaintains a meticulously clean and organized work area during a shift, and cleans work area and helps with closing duties at the end of each shiftMaintains an in-depth knowledge of products; shares knowledge with othersWilling and able to assist other areas as neededOwns and ensures accuracy of SPOs and custom ordersLeadership & Staff Management:Lead and manage the Bakeshop team, ensuring a collaborative, positive, and high-performing environment.Train, mentor, and motivate Bakeshop staff, holding them accountable, provide feedback, deliver exceptional guest service, maintain cleanliness, and uphold food safety standards.Works with P&E to interview and hire staffCoordinate scheduling and staffing with the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager to ensure departments are adequately supported during busy periods.Support Deli/Prepared Foods Manager with stay interviews (30-day check in) with newly hired and promoted staffAssist Deli/Prepared Foods Manager in approving weekly timecards, processing TCCs, and weekly tips calculation spreadsheet for payrollAssists in the review process for staff; provides insights, feedback, and observations to the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager regarding staff's performance to assist with the completion of the review Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Inventory & Ordering:Manage inventory within the BakeshopOrder supplies, ingredients, and packaging timely, balancing cost control with the need for quality and freshness.Reduce waste by implementing effective inventory rotation, portion control, and efficient ordering practices.Benefits we're proud of!
