The Licensed Funeral Director plays a vital role in guiding families through the funeral process, coordinating all aspects of funeral services, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position involves managing a large team, overseeing traditional funerals, cremations, memorial services, and pre-planning arrangements. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and grief support skills combined with expertise in funeral service planning and regulatory compliance. Occasional local travel may be required to facilitate service coordination.

 

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to understand their needs and wishes
• Plan and coordinate funeral, cremation, memorial, and pre-planning services
• Oversee body preparation coordination and facility maintenance
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements
• Prepare and submit obituaries and related documentation
• Manage transportation logistics for services
• Provide grief support and counseling to families
• Supervise and lead a large team of funeral service professionals
• Utilize funeral home management software and CRM tools for service coordination

 

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in funeral directing
• Bachelor's Degree in Funeral Service or related field
• Knowledge of Mortuary Science and Funeral Service Planning
• Strong understanding of Regulatory Compliance
• Excellent Customer Service and Grief Counseling skills
• Effective Communication and Time Management abilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Funeral Director License
