Compensation: $56,000 - $83,000

Assist in marketing the Psychiatric Department for behavioral health services. Provide psychiatric assessments and assist in the transfer of patients from the Emergency Department and Medical Units to the Psychiatric Department. Plan, organize and implement programs and services for adult psychiatric patients from the age of 18 yrs and older.

Position Qualifications

• Master's degree in human services or a related field (social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, human services counseling or other degree training equivalent to those described) from an accredited college or experience working as a Crisis Worker in the Emergency Triage Department of a Free-Standing or Full Service Hospital 5-8 yrs or Specialized Training in Crisis Assessment and Management, Therapeutic and Intervention Management work experience and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness.
• Must successfully complete CPR, CPI de-escalation and behavioral management training. The candidate must meet eligibility for employment through a successful criminal and central registry check.

Position Responsibilities

• Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques, mental health services, mental health agencies and mental health diagnosis.
• Conduct counseling and treatment interventions for clients requesting crisis stabilization.
• Develop a therapeutic relationship with clients that will encourage response in treatment.
• Provide intensive 1:1 therapeutic and behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis episode.
• The client presents to the Emergency Department or other facilities as engaging in high risk or self-injurious behavior.
• Patient is assessed as an imminent risk of danger to self or others: hospitalization, homelessness, and/or loss of current. The patient is assessed as needing inpatient behavioral health treatment/services.
• Link client/s to necessary outpatient treatment providers to include outpatient counseling, outpatient medication management, group counseling, etc.
• Implement safety plans based on the client's need to ensure safety in their current environment.
• Provide brief clinical assessment to high-risk clients and trigger next step referrals when necessary.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response as needed.
