Pay Rate: Up to $28 per hour

The Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a creative, energetic, and compassionate Recreation Specialist to join our team.

The Recreation Specialist will help develop and coordinate engaging activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, physical activity, and overall quality of life for our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with seniors and takes pride in creating a positive and welcoming environment.

• Plan and lead a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents.

• Develop programs based on residents' interests, abilities, preferences, and needs.

• Organize individual and group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music, entertainment, and social events.

• Encourage resident participation and create an inclusive atmosphere.

• Assist with special events, holiday programs, outings, and facility celebrations.

• Build positive relationships with residents and their families.

• Document resident participation and maintain accurate activity records.

• Collaborate with nursing, social services, and other departments to support resident-centered care.

• Adapt activities for residents with varying cognitive, physical, and functional abilities.

• Promote resident choice, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and enjoyable recreation environment.

• Previous experience in recreation, activities, senior care, healthcare, or a related field preferred.

• Experience working with seniors or in a Skilled Nursing Facility is a plus.

• Creative, energetic, and compassionate personality.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to engage residents and encourage participation.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable working with residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
