Paraprofessional Aide, K-1st Primary job responsibilities include planning and assisting during daily learning activities, and supporting regular and special education students to successfully access and participate in all classroom activities. Paraprofessionals will also manage and instruct small and large groups, and support the classroom teacher throughout the school day. Dependability and consistent attendance are essential to providing stable support for our young students. Responsibilities Support curriculum and instruction under the direction of the teacher Prepare and coordinate materials for learning activities at the teacher’s request Assist students in following the classroom routine and engage with them during large and small group instruction Support young children’s social problem‑solving skills and behavior regulation throughout the school day Greet students each morning and facilitate smooth transitions into the classroom and between activities Scaffold learning for students during instruction times under the supervision of a teacher or specialist Follow through on IEP goals as directed by the teacher Support students’ access to the bathroom and bathroom procedures Maintain a safe environment on the playground, observing students and scaffolding playground skills Review the classroom environment at day’s end to ensure all supplies and materials are replaced for the next morning Maintain classroom displays and project work at the teacher’s request Comprehend and competently implement all student educational programs and behavior management guidelines Provide a positive and supportive learning experience for students; set and maintain consistent/constructive limits Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans, classroom management systems, and reinforcement systems Participate in data collection and data analysis May include maintaining students’ program books with accurate completion of item lists Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher Additional Requirements Arrive promptly and independently set up the classroom Refer parent concerns directly to the teacher Attend all scheduled paraprofessional training meetings to the greatest extent possible Be physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared for a challenging career experience Have positive academic and employment references Be bright, energetic, and eager to work with young children Implement all medical, safety, and emergency procedures diligently Communicate effectively—both in written and oral form—using positive interpersonal skills Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information Provide a safe learning environment for students Remain actively engaged, standing, walking, sitting, running, crouching, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50+ pounds, as required for the duties Qualifications Relevant work experience (1 year) with young children preferred Bachelor’s degree Terms BEU, Para UNIT Vaccination Policy All employees must be vaccinated and maintain full vaccination as a condition of employment or work as an on-site vendor/contractor, unless they receive approval for a documented medical or religious exemption in accordance with state and/or federal law.
