Come work with us! Apple's Newsroom team is looking for a Copy Editor for a hybrid, freelance assignment onsite in Sunnyvale, CA. Do you have 7-10 years of related experience within news media, an editorial publication, a digital advertising agency, and/or an in-house creative group for a major or upcoming brand? Do you have significant editorial and copyediting experience at a premier publication, design or financial firm, corporate marketing communications department, or ad agency? Are you committed to attention to detail and have the ability to be flexible, adapt quickly to change as well as focus and prioritize in a dynamic environment? If so, we'd like to hear from you! Key Qualifications 7-10 years of related experience within news media, an editorial publication, a digital advertising agency, and/or an in-house creative group for a major or upcoming brand. Newsroom is considered to be always-on. You are willing to work when necessary (sometimes late, early, weekends, on the fly). Significant editorial and copyediting experience at a premier publication, design or financial firm, corporate marketing communications department, or ad agency. You are committed to attention to detail and have the ability to be flexible, to adapt quickly to change, and to focus and prioritize in a dynamic environment. You have a firm grounding in U.S. English, usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and are familiar with various usage guides (AP Style, Chicago, Strunk & White, etc.). You are aware of current SEO standard methodologies. You remain curious, ask questions, and dig deep to find solutions. You have a familiarity with the company and its products and services. Description Copyedit, proofread, and lightly fact-check Newsroom stories for grammar, punctuation, style, accuracy, voice, and tone. Track text changes and edits requested by Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, executives, and others within the Newsroom copy deck format. Ensure proper names, our company's product and brand names, and dates as part of the review process. Contribute to and update the Newsroom Style Guide, and check for grammar, punctuation, and style, ensuring that the voice and tone of the Newsroom are consistent across each post. Craft concise metadata and recommend the right words to hyperlink. Review each CMS build for correct implementation of the latest copy. Occasionally rewrite headlines, subheads, captions, and copy as part of the editing and peer review process. Work with the Newsroom writing team to document and enforce our company's Newsroom copy style for broader Corporate Communications and other teams. Education A bachelor’s degree is required.
