Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked law firm seeking a 3rd to 6th year Finance Associate Attorney to join its New York NY office on an in office 5 days per week basis. This role focuses on secured lending and related finance transactions for a sophisticated client base, including financial institutions and corporate borrowers. The team is looking for an associate who can take ownership of core drafting and execution work while partnering closely with senior attorneys through signing and closing. The platform offers a collaborative, commercially focused environment with high quality deal flow and hands on training. Associates are supported in building strong client service skills and developing sound judgment across a range of financing structures. The Opportunity You will represent lenders and borrowers in secured lending matters, including leveraged finance and commercial lending. The work includes drafting and negotiating principal deal documents, coordinating diligence and closing deliverables, and managing transaction execution in a fast paced, team oriented setting. Ideal Candidate Profile The firm is seeking a 3rd to 6th year Finance Associate Attorney with: 3 to 6 years of law firm experience handling secured lending transactions Experience representing both lenders and borrowers, or the ability to demonstrate fluency across both perspectives Strong drafting and negotiation skills across loan agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, commitment papers, and closing documentation Bar admission in a US jurisdiction, or eligibility to obtain admission in New York Strong client service orientation, initiative, sound business judgment, and an ability to work effectively within a deal team Why This Opportunity Stands Out This is a strong fit for an associate who wants consistent exposure to sophisticated secured lending work in a structured team environment, with meaningful responsibility on core deal documents and regular interaction with experienced partners and demanding institutional clients.
