With a proactive, client-focused approach, you will support employees and leadership across the employee lifecycle and build strong relationships across the organization. This role is based in our Washington, DC office on an in-office basis. This role reports to the Talent Services Senior Manager.Position SummaryThe Talent Services Generalist will support the Talent Services department by providing administrative and operational assistance across human resources functions including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. This role serves as a resource for attorneys and professional staff throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring a positive and seamless experience. The Talent Services Generalist will partner closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver consistent, high-quality HR support.Key ResponsibilitiesLiaise with Business Director, Talent Services Senior Manager, Compliance, and employees to support employee relations matters; elevates employee issues as neededAssist managers in dealing with and documenting performance issues; participates in disciplinary meetings or separationsCoordinate the onboarding and offboarding processes for attorneys and professional staff, including preparing documentation and conducting new hire orientationsServe as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general talent services mattersMaintain accurate and up-to-date employee change records in the HRIS system (Workday)Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment; serve as liaison between employees and shared services benefits team in resolving benefit issuesProvide guidance and support the administration of employee benefits programs, including new hire enrollments, changes, and terminationsMaintain reports, record, and assist with leave of absence administration (e.g. FMLA, STD, and Workers Compensation), including tracking and coordinating communications with employees and third-party administratorsLeads recruiting efforts for professional staffPartner with managers and attorneys to define job requirements and develop job descriptionsWork with employment agencies on direct placement hiring and temporary staffing needsSupport the performance review process and related communications, alongside the Business Director and Talent Services Senior Manager for professional staffIdentify areas of development and make appropriate recommendations for training and developmentCreate and assist with the preparation of HR related reports, audits, and compliance documentation; provides HR metrics as neededWork closely with Talent Services Assistant, as it relates to leaves, time off policies, internal processes and procedures and planning of internal eventsContribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and proceduresAssist other GT offices and department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsSkills & CompetenciesHigh level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive informationExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentationAbility to build relationships across all levels of the organizationStrong attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentEffectively work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and prioritize multiple tasksProvide outstanding client service, meet high quality standards for services, and meet or exceed client expectations; proactive in seeking innovative ways in which to help othersAnalytical with strong problem-solving skills, takes initiative, and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skillsEducation & Prior ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or a related fieldSHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR or PHR certification a plusMinimum of five years of experience in human resources, big law firm experience preferredGeneral knowledge of HR principles and practices, as well as employment law complianceEnsures compliance with federal and state lawsTechnologyProficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook requiredExperience with HRIS & ATS platforms required; Workday experience preferredDemonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environmentFamiliarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directedProactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovationThe expected pay range for this position is:$87,000 to $100,000 per yearActual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
