Growing real estate law firm is looking for a staff accountant to join our dynamic and engaging Indiana group that offers a tremendous opportunity for long term advancement and professional development opportunities. This position regularly handles matters related to a wide variety of cases including enforcement of property restrictions, contract disputes, construction defects, and other real property issues. Attorney should enjoy significant client contact and public speaking. Extremely competitive benefits package, including health, disability, and retirement.
Accounts Payable (AP):
Enter and process vendor invoices with appropriate coding and documentation
Prepare payments via check or credit card
Maintain vendor records and ensure tax documentation is up to date
Address vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly
Assist with credit card reconciliation and month-end close
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Process incoming payments (checks, ACH, wires) and prepare bank deposits
Post payments to customer accounts accurately
Follow up on payment discrepancies or short payments
General Accounting Support:
Assist with journal entries and general ledger coding as assigned
Support audits, reporting, and internal documentation needs
Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial procedures
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in accounting or related field required (Bachelor’s preferred)
1–2 years of experience in accounting support (AP, AR, and/or payroll)
Experience in law firm setting or with Escrow accounts a plus
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
Familiarity with Paylocity or similar payroll systems a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (sorting/filtering, formulas, spreadsheets)
Clear communicator with a proactive, team-oriented attitude
