About the Position

Job Title: Computed Tomography Technologist (CT Tech) Profession: CT Technologist Specialty: CT Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: ARRT (R) certification and registration required Certifications: ARRT (CT) certification preferred or required based on facility requirements. Current BLS certification. Must-Have: - Strong experience performing routine and contrast-enhanced CT examinations. - Experience with IV contrast administration and recognition of contrast reactions. - Knowledge of radiation safety and dose-reduction practices. - Ability to work independently and prioritize examinations based on patient acuity. - Strong communication, critical-thinking, organization, and time-management skills. Description: The Computed Tomography Technologist (CT Tech) performs high-quality diagnostic CT examinations for patients across varying levels of acuity. The CT Tech is responsible for proper patient positioning and selecting appropriate imaging protocols. The CT Tech administers contrast when indicated and maintains radiation safety standards. Producing diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation is a key responsibility. Responsibilities include performing routine and advanced CT examinations according to physician orders. The technologist will verify patient identity, physician orders, clinical history, allergies, and appropriate screening requirements before examinations. Accurate patient positioning and selecting appropriate scanning parameters for diagnostic-quality images are essential. The technologist will establish or assess IV access and administer IV contrast according to facility protocols. Monitoring patients for contrast reactions and responding appropriately to adverse events is required. Performing CT angiography (CTA) examinations when necessary is included in the role. The CT Tech will efficiently perform trauma and emergency CT examinations while maintaining image quality and patient safety. Utilizing radiation dose-reduction techniques and following ALARA principles is essential for the position. The technologist should recognize imaging artifacts and make appropriate technical adjustments to improve image quality. Post-processing, multiplanar reconstructions, and other advanced imaging techniques may be required. The completed studies must be reviewed for technical quality before releasing images for physician interpretation. Effective communication with radiologists, nurses, emergency department staff, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members is necessary. Maintaining accurate documentation within electronic medical records and radiology information systems is expected. The CT Tech will also maintain CT equipment and report any equipment or safety concerns appropriately. Following infection-prevention, patient-identification, radiation-safety, and contrast-administration standards is crucial. Assisting with maintaining efficient patient throughput in a fast-paced imaging department is part of the position. The ideal candidate is an experienced technologist capable of managing a busy CT workload while ensuring excellent image quality and patient safety. Comfort with emergency and trauma imaging, contrast administration, and CTA examinations is necessary. The candidate should be able to work with patients ranging from routine outpatients to critically ill emergency and ICU patients.
