SUMMARYThe Senior Accountant, integral to the general ledger functions of the Finance Office, monitors and improves office workflows, assists in the preparation of year-end audit papers, reconciles various general ledger accounts, generates and distributes periodic reports for management, performs account/transaction analysis and research, and provides software support for the office.PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssists operations associated with the general ledger and monthly close processes, including the preparation of general journal entries.Performs monthly reconciliation of key accounts, including the bank statements, and ensures that subsidiary records agree with the general ledger.Primary person responsible for understanding and managing the accounting functions of administrative software systems and payment platforms.Performs monthly and annual reporting functions. Assists with the preparation of year-end audit papers.Generate reports, account analysis and research of documentation. Responds to requests for information and assistance with problems from the campus community.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor 's degree from a four-year college or university.Three to five years of related experience.Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, and experience in Colleague (Ellucian) and Synoptix is a plus.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
