The Maple Grove Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring creativity, fostering community, and enriching lives through art. Our vision is to become a vibrant, inclusive arts center that empowers our community by nurturing artistic passion.
Role Summary
The General Space Volunteer supports the daily operations of the arts center by welcoming visitors, assisting with sales, and ensuring the gallery is a clean and inviting space. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy engaging with the public and supporting the arts in a hands-on way.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and close the gallery as needed, following established procedures.
- Greet and assist visitors, providing information about exhibitions, events, and the arts center’s mission.
- Process sales for artwork and boutique items, handling transactions accurately.
- Maintain a tidy and welcoming gallery space, performing light cleaning tasks such as dusting or sweeping as needed.
- Monitor the gallery to ensure the safety of artwork and visitors.
- Answer basic questions and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members when necessary.
- Support special events or exhibitions, including setup or breakdown assistance as needed.
Ideal Candidate
- Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about the arts.
- Comfortable interacting with the public and providing excellent customer service.
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently once trained.
- Basic cash handling or point-of-sale system experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to assist with light cleaning duties to maintain a professional environment.
