Registered Nurse-5 Doctors (med/surg/ortho)

Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through the nursing process. The nurse works with patients of all ages, using effective communication and multidisciplinary teamwork. They assess, treat, and care for patients, maintain clinical competence, and adhere to nursing standards. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Provide nursing care systematically within the nursing process and established standards. Integrate patient safety principles in direct care and medication management. Adhere to system‑wide communication standards and processes. Participate in forums that address patient care, education, policies, safety, and outcomes. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skill in the area of practice. Document competency, including age‑specific addenda. Deliver high‑quality customer service: create positive interactions, communicate respectfully, acknowledge concerns, and provide assistance as needed. Engage in performance improvement: participate in hospital‑wide activities, use resources for self‑development, comply with licensure requirements, and undergo annual competency assessment. Use resources efficiently: apply fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies, and charge supplies/equipment properly. Complete projects and assignments within projected deadlines and support Montefiore Nyack Hospital “We Care” standards, including working together, empowerment, communication, appearance, responsiveness, and excellence in service. Qualifications Associate Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred. Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience (preferred). National certification in area of practice preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS (within 6 months of hire); PACU (within 3 months). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for ED, Nursing Radiology, SDS (within 6 months); PACU (within 3 months). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and NICU (within 6 months). Oncology nursing certifications (ONS/ONCC, Chemotherapy/Biotherapy, Fundamentals of Administration) required for Infusion Center.
