Imagine a career where your expertise not only addresses speech and swallowing disorders but also empowers individuals to unlock their true potential. As a Speech Language Pathologist located in the stunning landscapes of Alaska, your role will be pivotal in forging connections, building confidence, and helping individuals of all ages find their unique voices. From toddlers forming their first syllables to seniors who are beginning to embrace their independence again, your work will be transformative.
This position provides an extraordinary chance to support a diverse population, offering a mix of outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient responsibilities. Are you passionate about aiding children's language milestones, tackling adult neurogenic issues, or supporting the geriatric community through cognitive recovery? Here, you'll find the freedom to pursue your interests while making a significant difference in the lives of others.
Conduct thorough assessments for patients spanning the pediatric, adult, and geriatric groups using both standardized tests and keen observational skills.
Create individualized treatment plans targeting both immediate objectives and comprehensive communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.
Deliver dedicated one-on-one speech therapy focusing on language, voice, fluency, and swallowing rehabilitation.
Engage with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and family members, to design cohesive care strategies.
Educate patients and their families to nurture continuity of progress in between therapy sessions.
Contribute to inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions when necessary, ensuring seamless care throughout the entire therapeutic journey.
Maintain precise and prompt documentation that meets state, federal, and organizational standards.
Commit to ongoing professional development through continuing education opportunities and collaboration with peers.
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending.
State licensure required for practicing as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Preferred candidates will hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of joining.
Thorough understanding and application of evidence-based treatment methodologies for all ages, including developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Exceptional communication skills with patients, their families, and interprofessional care teams.
Adeptness in modifying therapy interventions to accommodate diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Strong analytical thinking and clinical problem-solving skills.
Comfortable navigating electronic medical records and ensuring documentation compliance.
Attractive compensation packages reflective of your experience.
Flexible working hours that promote a healthy work-life balance amidst diverse client caseloads.
Possibilities to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric therapies.
Generous paid time off (PTO) with holiday compensation.
Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
Funding for continuing education and support for professional growth.
A collaborative and supportive team environment where quality care is paramount.
