We are seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation Paralegal to join our Trial & Appellate (Litigation) Practice Group with a combination of experience at the district court, federal circuit, and ideally the International Trade Commission. We are willing to train candidates that have experience at some but not all of those avenues. This is an ideal role for a detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can manage multiple priorities. The position requires a strong foundation in IP litigation and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys and other paralegals. This position is hybrid from the D.C. area with in-office presence as needed. We would expect travel to trial locations, depending. How will you make an impact? Providing litigation and trial support to the practice group as necessary. Creating, organizing, reviewing, and maintaining litigation case files. Monitoring litigation dockets and due dates; managing litigation calendars using CompuLaw. Compiling, assisting with, and preparing court filings including, but not limited to, proofreading, cite‑checking, preparing motions, briefs, and memoranda, and assembling exhibits and appendices for the Federal Circuit, District and Appellate Courts, and the International Trade Commission (ITC). Maintaining a working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure (FRAP). Maintaining proficiency in the mechanics of e‑filing using CM/ECF, NextGen, and USITC EDIS filing systems. Performing factual and legal research using databases including Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Docket Navigator, PACER, EDIS, and the USPTO. Conducting searches of production databases for relevant documents using IPRO, Relativity, and other document management software. Proactively managing all phases of fact and expert discovery. Preparing materials for depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations. Attending court and agency proceedings, including the ITC, and providing support to attorneys. Mentoring junior paralegals as needed. Assisting with special projects and assignments as necessary. What will you bring to the role? Strong academic credentials and undergraduate degree preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required. 7 or more years of experience as a litigation paralegal required. Some combination of trial experience and knowledge of IP litigation at the District Court, Federal Circuit, and/or ITC required. Knowledge and understanding of the litigation process and e‑discovery; experience with database management software, review, and production. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat; CompuLaw; Case Notebook; Relativity. Willingness to support matters at any level. Possess strong communication skills. Capable of “managing up,” flexible to respond quickly to shifting demands, ability to work under time constraints, handle multiple detailed tasks simultaneously, and prioritize appropriately. Must be a team player. Must deliver high-quality work product and work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to handle sensitive, confidential business information with the utmost discretion. Must be flexible to work overtime on an as-needed basis. Must be willing to attend trial out of state, as needed. Salary The good faith base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $130,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
