Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry – North Carolina

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM; 36 or 48-hour contracts accepted; 13–26 week assignments available; every other weekend required; no call; float required as needed

Highlights:

• Combination medical-surgical and surgical step-down unit with diverse patient population including trauma and post-operative surgical patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6 caring for adults with diagnoses including appendicitis, cholecystitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, various cancers, and peripheral vascular disease
• Epic electronic medical records system with Pyxis medication management
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and social services
• 24 hours of unit-specific orientation following 2 days of hospital orientation
• Experience with wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, and various surgical drains required

Requirements:

• Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience (experienced first-time travelers may be considered)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Comfortable managing 1:6 patient ratios on medical-surgical/telemetry units
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Proficiency in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tube management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and wound care/wound vac

Additional Information:

Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Unit consolidation may occur mid-contract with reassignment as needed. Strict attendance policy enforced; time off requests after booking are not permitted and call-offs may result in contract cancellation. Scrubs required: all navy or navy bottoms with white top.
