Fundraising Lead for Health Equity Programs

The be well Health and Wellness Initiative (be well) seeks an experienced and dynamic Development Officer to lead the organization’s fundraising strategy and revenue growth efforts. This is a one-year, grant-funded position with the opportunity for renewal, contingent upon successful performance, achievement of fundraising goals, and availability of continued funding. The Development Officer will design and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies; cultivate donor, corporate, and foundation relationships; manage grant development; plan fundraising events; and build strategic partnerships to advance be well’s mission. This role plays a central part in securing $300K per quarter and diversifying funding streams. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate annual fundraising plans Identify new funding opportunities using data insights Diversify revenue streams including fee‑for‑service, corporate partnerships, and grants Donor Cultivation & Stewardship Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors Build and maintain a strong, long‑term donor pipeline Research and prepare competitive grant proposals Ensure timely reporting and compliance with grant requirements Events & Marketing Plan and execute fundraising events Support development of promotional and marketing materials Represent the organization at community events and build relationships with key stakeholders Data & Reporting Systems Develop and maintain donor databases and CRM systems Analyze donor and fundraising data to refine and strengthen strategies Align fundraising strategies with organizational goals Support messaging, storytelling, and engagement initiatives Fee‑for‑Service Expansion Develop strategies to grow technical assistance and fee‑for‑service offerings Core Skills Strong communication, storytelling, and persuasive writing Excellent relationship‑building and donor cultivation abilities Strategic planning, data analysis, and CRM proficiency Project management, event planning, and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced environment Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Experience: 5+ years of fundraising or development experience with a proven record of meeting revenue goals. Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and storytelling abilities; comfort with face‑to‑face solicitation. Preferred Certification: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Work Environment: Hybrid setting with occasional evening/weekend work. Compensation $80,000–$100,000 annually, plus benefits. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, Education and Training, The Block Captain Project Manager is responsible for growing, strengthening, and sustaining the be well Block Captain Network. This role recruits and trains new Block Captains, supports their ongoing engagement, and partners with community members to design, implement, and assess community‑driven health equity projects. Success Metrics The number of new and active Block Captains Retention and engagement levels within the network The effectiveness of community projects in advancing health equity Key Responsibilities Program Development & Coordination Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing recruitment process for Block Captains. Expand program presence in underrepresented neighborhoods within the be well zone. Maintain updated Block Captain role descriptions, goals, expectations, and activity guidelines. Ensure Block Captains complete the required application and onboarding materials. Facilitate monthly meetings and trainings to build capacity in community organizing and public health. Collaborate with the be well Director of Community Engagement, Education and Training, and Project Coordinator to align activities. Community Engagement & Support Define and manage geographic areas of responsibility for each Block Captain or group. Maintain consistent communication and support for all Block Captains. Track, review, and report Block Captain contact logs and timesheets. Build and maintain the Block Captain database and mapping system. Attend community meetings and represent the program to local partners. Provide rapid response mobilization when timely community issues arise. Assist with organizing events and activities. Training & Capacity Building Plan and manage the formal Block Captain training program including curriculum updates, facilitator coordination, logistics, and communication. Support Block Captain‑led projects and supervise interns as available. Maintain up‑to‑date content about the program on the be well website. Build partnerships with organizations that can support Block Captain projects and community health goals. Contribute to communications and outreach strategies for the Block Captain program. Reporting & Administration Prepare weekly status reports and monthly activity reports in collaboration with program leadership. Ensure program activities align with funding requirements and expectations. Assist with grant proposals, reporting, and budget management. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience: 5+ years grassroots community organizing experience. 5+ years working with diverse populations. 5+ years project management experience. 2+ years nonprofit experience. Community health experience preferred. Bilingual skills a plus. Skills & Attributes Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to motivate volunteers and foster long‑term engagement. High level of initiative; able to work independently and collaboratively. Flexible, adaptable, and solution‑oriented. Skilled at managing multiple projects and navigating conflict. Strong commitment to racial equity and community‑driven change. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
