Director of Sales and Marketing

An established hospitality organization is seeking an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the sales, catering, and revenue-generating efforts for a full-service hotel property. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this individual will be responsible for driving top-line revenue across guest rooms, food and beverage operations, and meeting/event spaces while building and developing a high-performing sales team. This role serves as the property's lead sales executive, responsible for generating new business, cultivating client relationships, and collaborating with operational leaders to maximize property performance. Reports To: General Manager Location: On-site at hotel property Direct Reports: Sales Managers, Director of Catering, Catering Sales Managers, Sales Coordinators Travel: Minimal; primarily local client, community, and partner visits Key Responsibilities Generate new business opportunities across all market segments and revenue channels. Recruit, train, mentor, and develop sales and catering team members. Drive achievement of revenue goals related to rooms, food and beverage, event space rental, and market share performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, guests, and business partners. Oversee implementation of sales and marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with brand and organizational standards. Manage departmental budgeting, forecasting, and expense control. Maintain accurate sales reporting, forecasting, account management, and action planning processes. Analyze market trends, customer demand, occupancy opportunities, and pricing strategies. Collaborate with regional sales leadership and support teams to maximize performance and execution. Lead sales meetings and participate in executive leadership meetings. Partner with operations and revenue management teams to optimize booking opportunities and resolve scheduling challenges. Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements. Promote teamwork and best-practice sharing across properties and departments. Key Performance Indicators Total property revenue performance versus budget. Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) and market share performance. New business development and lead generation results. Sales and marketing expense management. Team engagement, development, and retention. Forecast and budget accuracy. Compliance and audit performance. Experience & Education Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of hotel sales leadership experience, preferably within a comparable full-service property. Proven record of driving revenue growth and profitability within a hotel sales environment. Experience leading and developing sales and catering professionals. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with hospitality sales, catering, and property management systems. Strong analytical skills, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Ability to interpret data and make informed business decisions. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
