Health Unit Coordinator

Job Title

Assist with coordination of care of patients in conjunction with the nursing staff, providers and the multidisciplinary team. In addition, assists with clerical duties including patient admissions, transfers, discharge and patient registration.

Key Position Details:

• .5 FTE (40 hours per two-week pay period)
• 8-hour day/evening shifts
• Every other weekend

Job Description:

Assists with coordination of care of patients in conjunction with the nursing staff, providers and the multidisciplinary team. In addition, assists with clerical duties including patient admissions, transfers, discharge and patient registration.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Performs clerical duties.
• Patient Registration.
• Other Duties may be applicable per unit needs.
• Contributes to an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Health Unit Coordinator Graduate of a Technical Institute Health Unit Coordinator program
• 2 or more years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred if not certified as a Health Unit Coordinator
• 2 or more years of experience with windows based applications and keyboarding skills
• Medical Terminology

• Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range:

$22.49 to $30.51 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
