Department Overview The organization is the eighth‑largest pediatric health care provider in the U.S., treating nearly 13,000 inpatient visits and over 200,000 emergency, outpatient, and other visits annually. Services include emergency care; newborn and pediatric intensive care; outpatient and inpatient surgery; diagnostic services such as radiology and laboratory; and specialty programs in respiratory, cardiology, oncology, premature birth, adolescent development, child abuse, and epilepsy. In addition to its Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, the system serves patients through Children’s West, Children’s – Roseville, and Children’s Clinics – Woodwinds. Position Summary The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) is a front‑line role that provides exemplary customer service to families, staff, and providers in person and by phone. Responsibilities include: Conducting efficient and orderly patient registration and check‑in. Collecting accurate patient demographic, financial, and consent information. Supporting patient care in the clinic and providing overall administrative support to the clinical area. Serving as the clinic’s technology resource. Education High school diploma or equivalent (required). Post‑secondary education (preferred). Experience One year of customer service experience (required). One year of experience in a medical office setting (preferred). Knowledge of medical insurance (preferred). Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Exceptional customer service skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and hospital technology systems. Professional and respectful communication and interaction with patients and team members. Ability to work effectively in a positive team environment. Proficiency in front‑desk clinic operations. HIPAA knowledge and the ability to handle confidential information. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Logical thinking for problem solving. Multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced setting. Physical Demands Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 pounds and other typical duties for an administrative position. Additional details can be provided upon request.
