Quality Engineer

Description

Programs and maintains the CMM equipment as needed. Develops training materials and facitliates training courses for plant personnel with specific focus on SPC data collection, Abnormal condition recognition, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Develops materials in compliance of TS16949, ISO14001, or other regulatory or customer driven requirements. Prepares presentation materials for PMG management or other outside audiences. Leads teams that are focused on root cause analysis, continual improvement activities, and new product development; as well as employee training and development. Actively interacts with customers and other external parties regarding matters relating to pertinent quality or compliance systems. Reports quality system performance to management for review as a basis for improvement of internal systems. Visits customers, vendors or job shop sites for quality issues, performance analysis, and/or quality system compliance. Leads fast response meetings for tracking internal and external quality concerns and scrap reduction projects Works in a safe manner and follows all plant safety policies; and instills safe practices while training other personnel by stressing the hazards associated with operation of specific pieces of equipment. Works as an active member of various teams Leads through example with respect to professionalism and leadership in the execution and support of company policies and directives.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Four-year college or university program certificate with a quality or business focus; and/or six years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous automotive manufacturing experience required. Powder Metal experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. COMPUTER SKILLS:Must be proficient in utilizing various software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Project Manager and Outlook, and all quality assurance specific software. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Hearing protection is required in designated areas of the facility.
