Accounting Manager

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote) Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM Compensation: $60–$65/hour DOE, with the opportunity to convert to a permanent salary of approximately $140,000 . About the Opportunity Mission Staffing is partnering with a highly respected international nonprofit organization to identify an experienced Accounting Manager for a contract-to-hire opportunity in New York City. Reporting directly to senior finance leadership, this individual will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple international entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong nonprofit accounting background and experience with international consolidations, multi-currency accounting, financial reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Oversee the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Prepare and review consolidated financial statements across multiple international entities. Manage intercompany accounting and multi-currency consolidations. Partner with international finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. Serve as the primary liaison for the annual external audit. Coordinate the preparation of IRS Form 990 and other required regulatory filings. Manage Workers' Compensation audits and other compliance reporting requirements. Supervise the Accounts Payable function and mentor a small accounting team. Develop and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and financial processes. Partner with executive leadership on strategic accounting and finance initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience within a nonprofit organization. Strong experience managing month-end and year-end close. Proven experience preparing consolidated financial statements for multiple legal entities. Thorough understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Experience leading annual external audits. Experience preparing or overseeing IRS Form 990 filings. Strong knowledge of intercompany accounting and international reconciliations. Experience with multi-currency accounting and global consolidations. Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Previous experience supervising accounting professionals or Accounts Payable staff. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Preferred Experience International nonprofit accounting. Global consolidations across multiple countries. Financial reporting for international subsidiaries or affiliates.
