Principal Clinical Molecular Geneticist

The role combines technical expertise in variant interpretation with leadership responsibilities for process improvement and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Review genetic testing data, interpret variants, and sign out laboratory test results for performed tests
- Curate and maintain gene panels with comprehensive gene lists supported by scientific literature
- Lead process improvement projects to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality
- Serve as exception handler and expert consultant for colleagues on complex genetic cases
- Develop and mentor team members while promoting cross-functional collaboration and communication
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from accredited institution
- Certification by ABMGG in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, Molecular Genetics, or Cytogenetics; or ABB as High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director; or CCMG
- 4+ years post-certification experience reviewing and signing out clinical test reports
- Current New York state Certificate of Qualification in appropriate oversight areas or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Authorization to work in United States without sponsorship
- Demonstrated expertise in high-complexity genetic testing and variant interpretation
Compensation: $113,300–$226,700 base
