Mid-Level Civil Investigative EngineerMartin/Martin is seeking a mid-level Civil Investigative Engineer to join our rapidly growing Investigative Engineering Group in our Denver, Colorado office. Our team specializes in developing and managing engineering services for the renovation, restoration, retrofit, and repair of existing site elements, including grading, drainage, pavement systems, subsurface utilities, and roadways. We support a broad range of civil projects, including condition assessments, non-destructive testing, and expert witness services.This role combines in-office design work with on-site evaluations. Candidates should bring strong knowledge of civil site standards, applicable codes, and construction practices, along with the ability to draw informed conclusions from field investigations. Core responsibilities include mentoring staff, meeting with clients, preparing technical reports, and producing engineering deliverables aligned with project needs.A typical week may involve developing repair drawings, coordinating with project teams, performing engineering analyses, conducting site evaluations, managing construction administration activities, and participating in industry events. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.Exhibits effective communication and technical skillsDesired:Experience or interest in forensic engineering and/or expert witness supportExperience with evaluation, rehabilitation, or repair of existing site infrastructure, including grading, drainage systems, pavements, subsurface utilities, and/or roadwaysFamiliarity with field investigation techniques, including site reconnaissance, documentation, and coordination of non-destructive testing (e.g., CCTV, GPR, infiltration testing, etc.)Working knowledge of local and regional civil design standards and criteria (e.g., City and County of Denver, Colorado Department of Transportation, and similar AHJs)Experience preparing technical reports, exhibits, and repair/rehabilitation drawings for existing site conditionsExposure to construction administration services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and observing construction for conformance with design intentAbility to evaluate existing conditions, identify probable causes of distress or failure, and develop practical, cost-effective repair recommendationsProficiency with civil engineering design and documentation tools (e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite)Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across concurrent projectsInterest in developing client relationships and participating in business development efforts over timeWorking Conditions, Skills, & Abilities:Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sitesRemain stationary for long periods of timeRepetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouseCarry, ascend, and descend a ladderIdentify colorRead, communicate, and document in EnglishDetermine and exchange accurate informationOccasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 poundsPositions self in atypical environments and small, confined spacesCompensation:Base Salary: For individuals hired in Colorado, a reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $89,000 - $108,000 annually.Accrued Time: This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility.
