Posted Date 8/19/2026 Post End Date 9/3/2026 Job Description This position reports to the Multimedia Manager of the Strategic Communications Section. The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for creating compelling visual and digital content that tells the story of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office across social media, the agency website, and other digital platforms. This is a fast-paced, hands-on content production position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the field, riding with officers and detectives, responding to developing stories, working under tight deadlines, and producing engaging content from start to finish. Examples of Work Job Duties Produce, shoot, and edit creative and engaging video packages, social media shorts, and other digital content highlighting the agency’s top priorities, including public safety, crime prevention, community engagement, public announcements, civic ceremonies, training, and other agency initiatives. Create highlight videos for awards, civic ceremonies, special events, and other agency functions. Capture and edit still photographs for use in social media, the agency website, news releases, presentations, publications, and other digital and communications materials. Create and prepare digital content for social media platforms, the JSO website, and other agency communication channels. This position focuses on content creation and production, not social media management. Provide technical support for video production and distribution, including news conferences, meetings, awards ceremonies, special events, and other agency functions. Monitor and maintain the agency’s technical equipment inventory. Assist with graphic design and visual content while following agency branding and marketing standards. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Ideal Candidate Will Have A passion for creative storytelling and a desire to find and tell compelling stories. A natural ability to convey emotion, energy, and authenticity through visual imagery, natural sound, interviews, and music. A fast-paced, hands-on approach to content production and the ability to move quickly from an idea to a finished product. An openness to riding along with officers and detectives and experiencing law enforcement from a behind-the-scenes perspective. A willingness to get into the action and work in a variety of environments and situations to capture authentic stories. The ability to recognize a good story as it develops and determine how best to tell it visually. A willingness to use body-worn camera footage and other law enforcement video to tell compelling stories. Experience telling stories in both longform and short-form digital formats. Experience with multi-camera storytelling and production. The ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy, creativity, and production quality. Open Requirements/Supplemental Information A three-year combination of education, training, and professional experience in multimedia journalism, public relations, communications, or a closely related field. Experience shooting video with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and action cameras is required. Familiarity with 360° cameras and compact camera systems, such as DJI Osmo, is preferred. Must be willing to learn and adapt to new camera technologies. Proficiency in professional lighting techniques, including field and studio lighting. Proficiency in audio production, including setting up boom and wireless lavalier microphones, monitoring audio, and using proper recording techniques with in-camera systems and/or digital audio recorders. Experience with professional post-production workflows is required, including video editing, audio editing, sound mixing, and color grading. Experience with Adobe post-production software or DaVinci Resolve is preferred. Experience creating graphics to advance a story or make content more visually engaging is required. A basic understanding of After Effects or similar software is preferred. Experience with still photography and photo-editing workflows, including RAW image processing, is required. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and/or Camera Raw is preferred. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with photographers, videographers, public information officers, communications staff, agency personnel, and other team members. Must be a self-starter who is receptive to ideas and guidance, takes initiative, solves problems, and consistently meets deadlines. Must have a flexible schedule and be available to respond to breaking news, special assignments, events, and other agency needs. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and assignments may require immediate response.
