Work Environment

You will work onsite in a fully equipped rehabilitation center in Charlottesville, a vibrant community known for its supportive health care environment and beautiful surroundings. Our facility offers state-of-the-art equipment and resources to help you implement effective treatment strategies. We encourage a collaborative culture, where interdisciplinary communication is key to optimizing patient outcomes. Your schedule will typically be Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a structured yet flexible work routine.

Key Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with state practice acts and adhere strictly to regulations governing physical therapy practices and supervision.

• Assess and evaluate patients with functional limitations, creating comprehensive treatment plans based on diagnosis and patient goals.

• Provide thorough evaluation services, including comprehensive reviews of medical history, conducting specific assessments, and documenting results with precision.

• Implement treatment protocols effectively, adapting to the individual progress and health changes of patients, ensuring personalized care.

• Engage with colleagues in interdisciplinary consultations to optimize patient management and communicate any changes in patient status that may alter their treatment plan.

• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care, ensuring thorough documentation of the patient's journey, including evaluation, ongoing progress notes, and discharge summaries.

• Maintain compliance with all training requirements, staying current with state, local, and federal regulations impacting practice.

• Participate actively in facility meetings and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient access and care quality, utilizing relevant data and metrics.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will work with primarily include individuals undergoing rehabilitation for orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and other physical impairments. You will develop treatment strategies aimed at restoring functionality and improving quality of life, with a strong focus on patient education and empowerment. Your expertise will play a vital role in guiding patients through their rehabilitation journey, addressing their physical and emotional needs.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited physical therapy program is required.

• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) from the Physical Therapy Examining Committee.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy.

• Certification in CPR is mandatory.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with specific treatment modalities, rehabilitation technologies, and who can demonstrate a history of successful patient outcomes. Experience in a collaborative healthcare setting is highly beneficial, as is a background in patient education and community outreach initiatives.
