Job Title: RN PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse credentialed from the state Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS Provider, Advanced Life Support Must-Have: Proven critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision Description: Provides direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period. Follows aseptic sterile technique according to established standards. Evaluates patients' responses to treatments and interventions. Manages patients' pain effectively. Anticipates case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures performed and pathophysiology. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work in a stressful environment. Follows Standard Precautions and utilizes personal protective equipment as required. Position available for a Pre-Op/PACU RN to manage care for surgical patients. Ensures safe transitions from admission through discharge. Works a flexible schedule, adapting to fluctuating daily surgical volumes. Participates in on-call requirements after primary hours, including evenings and rotating weekend coverage. Unit supports high-quality perioperative and procedural care for diverse patient population. Handles both elective and emergency surgical interventions. Includes pre-operative preparation, intraoperative assistance, and post-anesthesia recovery. Supports high-turnover procedural care along with complex acute surgical recovery. Involves hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, pain/nausea control, and immediate post-operative complication prevention. Participates in rotating on-call coverage for emergency surgical and procedural needs outside standard operational hours. Mandatory response expectation is a 30-minute call response time.
