Principal Scientist, Human Factors

Principal Scientist position leading a Human Factors team at a pharmaceutical company to develop combination products and medical devices. Responsible for managing human factors activities across the product lifecycle while ensuring regulatory compliance and mentoring junior scientists.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a Human Factors team on product design and regulatory compliance activities
- Manage human factors assessments including use error analysis, usability testing, and hazard analysis across product lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on customer needs identification, design requirements, and post-market surveillance
- Create and maintain regulatory submission materials, protocols, reports, and compliance documentation
- Drive strategic planning for human factors assessment in innovative product development
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, Engineering, Chemistry, or Business Management
- 10+ years of related human factors or device development experience
- Strong knowledge of device regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Team and people management experience preferred
- Expertise in regulatory filings, quality by design, and risk management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments
Compensation: $156,900–$247,000 base
