Strategy Manager

Position OverviewJob Description SummaryThe Strategy Manager will leading initiatives that drive company growth and profitability and further our strategic goals (as outlined in Burlington 2.5). This is a highly visible position with significant interaction with senior company executives.You will regularly be posed with complex business questions and will be asked to develop an approach, analytical plan, and a recommendation that will be presented to senior leadership to guide tangible decisions. To lead that work, you will need to work cross-functionally and be able to leverage a wide range of qualitative and quantitative insights from your internal network, internal systems, and external data sources. Recommendations will include practical solutions that improve Burlington’s off-price execution.This role requires exceptional problem solving skills, strong analytical capabilities, and great communication skills (written, through presentations, and spoken). A collaborative mindset and genuine interesting in partnering broadly across the organization, is essential to driving the change we facilitate in this group.A Day in the LifeInvestigate opportunities using a hypothesis-driven approachConduct insightful analysis using internal and external data, with the goal of identifying growth and profit improvement opportunitiesCommunicate sharp storylines calling out key insights from complex analysesDevelop business cases modeling ROI to secure financial approvals, as neededIdentify the key drivers of financial performance and linkage to strategic initiativesTrack results against the key operating and financial metrics for specific strategy initiativesFollow through work to execution and manage transition to long-term partnersYou'll Come WithUndergraduate degree in an analytical field from a top-tier educational institution; MBA or MS is preferred, but not required2-4 years of experience top-tier strategy consulting firm.Alternately, for those without consulting background, 3-4 years in an analytical and relevant role with exposure to senior leadersExperience in the Retail sector strongly preferred.Structured & Logical Thinking - The ability to structure problems in a hypothesis driven approach, to understand the implications of strategic analysis, and to make data-supported recommendationsAnalytical Rigor - Capability for conducting quantitative analysis and work with large data sets that need to be summarized, as well as incomplete datasets where practical assumptions are needed to overcome data gapsStorytelling and Communication - Able to take data from various sources, leverage Excel, Word and PowerPoint to put together effective analysis, recommendations, and presentationsPassion for Retail - A people-friendly mindset who enjoys working with frontline associates, our merchants, and also our corporate executives; someone seeking to put our customer needs first and helping us become the destination of choice for the ‘treasure hunt’Come join our team.
