Payroll Specialist - Multi-State Payroll

Are you an experienced payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, ownership, and solving complex payroll challenges? A well-established global manufacturing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to lead and execute full-cycle payroll for multiple U.S. locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys independently managing the payroll process while partnering closely with Human Resources and Finance.

What You'll Do

• Manage accurate and timely full-cycle payroll for multi-state, multi-site operations
• Review and validate timecards, attendance information, and system integrations
• Process manual checks, payroll adjustments, and off-cycle payments
• Reconcile payroll and review reports before final submission
• Maintain accurate payroll records, audit trails, and employee data
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and wage-and-hour requirements
• Apply regulations related to overtime, double time, meal premiums, final pay, and wage statements
• Process garnishments, levies, child support orders, and other involuntary deductions
• Manage quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end reconciliations
• Ensure the proper taxation of employer-paid benefits
• Prepare payroll reports and special analyses for management
• Manage benefit-related vendor files for 401(k), FSA, HSA, and other programs
• Support EDI feeds and troubleshoot file-transmission issues
• Partner with Human Resources and Finance to maintain alignment across employee data, benefits, and payroll
• Assist the Finance team with general accounting-related responsibilities as needed

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Three to five years of hands-on payroll experience in a manufacturing environment
• At least three years of multi-state payroll experience required
• Five or more years of payroll experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Experience with payroll software, HRIS platforms, and ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of payroll taxation, reporting, reconciliation, and time-and-attendance processing
• General knowledge of accounting principles
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating successfully with a team
• Predictable and reliable attendance

Additional Requirements

• Ability to travel up to approximately 10% for initial training or as business needs require
• Must meet applicable U.S. person requirements under ITAR and CUI regulations
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range is $72,000-$82,000 annually , based on the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and alignment with market data.
