About the Institute Cleveland Clinic, a distinguished academic healthcare system, seeks the Chief of the Digestive Disease Institute (DDI). The DDI is a flagship institute with departments and divisions in Ohio, Florida, London, and Abu Dhabi. DDI encompasses the Departments of Colorectal Surgery, Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, and General Surgery. Its mission is to be the international leader in medical and surgical treatment of digestive diseases by providing the highest quality clinical care, promoting digestive health, and excelling in patient experience, innovation, research, and education. DDI has 215 staff physicians, 132 advanced practice providers, 335 inpatient and outpatient nurses, 230 registered dieticians, and 194 additional non‑clinical caregivers. The institute includes teams in Cleveland Clinic Florida, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Cleveland Clinic London. In Ohio, DDI serves 30 locations; in Florida, it serves 7 locations. In 2025, DDI’s volume included approximately 225,466 evaluation and management visits, 128,999 endoscopic procedures, 75,778 new & consult E_Ms, 29,141 surgical cases, and 18,720 total discharges. The institute has a significant educational and research impact, with 149 residents and fellows. It runs 20 training programs (11 surgery and 9 gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition). DDI currently has $15.2 million in research funding, 399 IRB‑approved studies, and 503 publications in 2025. Role Overview The Institute Chief will be a General Surgeon, Colorectal Surgeon, or Gastroenterologist with impressive credentials, reporting to the Cleveland Clinic Enterprise Chief of Staff. The Chief will implement and drive the strategic mission of the Cleveland Clinic Health System and provide leadership across global sites. Responsibilities Oversee general operations, quality and safety, research, innovation, education, recruitment, retention, and mentoring of medical staff, administrators, educators, and researchers. Develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with the institute’s mission. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance clinical excellence. Represent the institute at regional, national, and international forums. Qualifications Board‑certified General Surgeon, Colorectal Surgeon, or Gastroenterologist. Record of excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship. Significant experience in leadership, administration, and program development.
