Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual therapy sessions in clients' homes or provide group therapy options in our outpatient clinic, focusing on tailored therapeutic techniques based on the individual needs of each youth.

• Implement strategies to reduce high-risk behaviors, including self-injury and aggression, through the teaching of anger management and coping skills.
\n
• Enhance decision-making abilities of both youth and caregivers, equipping them with tools to effectively manage behavioral challenges in the home environment.
\n
• Engage in continuous collaboration with the Child Family Treatment Team, along with other healthcare professionals, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and monitor client progress.
\n
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all treatment sessions, including intakes, treatment plans, and progress notes, consistent with organizational protocols.
\n
• Participate in regular team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations to continuously improve the support provided to clients.
\n

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

In this role, you will primarily work with children aged 3-20 who are facing developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our client population includes a diverse range of needs and backgrounds, and therapists who are bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese are especially encouraged to apply. Your ability to connect with these children and their families will be crucial in fostering trust and facilitating effective therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required.

• An active and unrestricted LMFT license in the state of Maryland is mandatory.

• Availability to work a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, particularly during the critical after-school hours of 4-7 PM, with some weekend availability considered a plus.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are required to travel to clients’ homes as necessary.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is a prerequisite for employment.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience providing positive behavior support and working with children who require special accommodations is highly valued.

• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities specific to adolescent and family counseling will enhance your effectiveness in this role.

• Prior experience in community mental health settings or with children with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) will be advantageous.
