Biologist for AI Training and Evaluation

Role Overview
Apply your hands-on biology research judgment to help evaluate and improve advanced AI systems. Your expertise will inform the standards used to assess research problems, experimental designs, data interpretation, and scientific reasoning. This is an ongoing talent pool for project-based work, not a guarantee of an immediate assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create research problems based on your own work, including the experimental system, data, controls, and a reference answer for evaluating model responses.
- Review AI-generated experimental designs and interpretations, assessing controls, statistical fit, and whether conclusions are supported by figures and results.
- Identify answers that are technically correct in theory but would not hold up in laboratory practice because of the organism, assay limitations, or what reagents can demonstrate.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in biology or a related life-science field, with research experience.
- Recent firsthand experience designing and conducting experiments, with the ability to explain the decisions made.
- Clear written communication and the ability to explain scientific reasoning.
- Comfort working through ambiguous tasks and raising unclear instructions.
Work Terms
- Remote, hourly, project-based work.
- Projects may begin on short notice and are assigned when a project aligns with your background.
- Each project invitation identifies its rate, expected hours, and client. Selection decisions are made for the specific project, not through this standing listing.
- Submitting interest to this listing does not result in an acceptance or rejection decision. Matching outreach may occur within a week or take several months, depending on active project needs.
Compensation
Past project rates have ranged from $70 to $105 per hour, with final rates set by project scope and required depth of expertise.
