Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Oncology / Telemetry unit, caring for solid tumor cancer patients across all stages of their cancer journey, with telemetry interpretation skills and 2 years of experience required.

Details

• Work in a Medical Oncology / Telemetry unit (17 James) at an academic cancer hospital
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with solid tumor cancers, spanning new diagnosis through end-of-life care — including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal cancers, and patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5 depending on unit needs
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted before the final schedule is posted and balanced

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license (must be active at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Additional Information

• Unit has a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Nurses care for solid tumor cancer patients across the full spectrum of their cancer journey, including patients with true med/surg needs
• Orientation consists of Mon–Fri day shifts during the first week, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor during the second week
• Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting the position — detailed instructions will be provided by the credentialing team
• Local candidates are accepted
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer
• Former facility employees are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
• Parking is available on campus through CampusParc with multiple permit options at the traveler's expense
