Property Controller - Commercial Real Estate

A growing NYC-based real estate investment and management firm is seeking a Property Controller to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a mixed commercial and residential portfolio. This role will manage property accounting operations, supervise AP/AR functions, and partner with operations teams to drive financial performance. About the Role This role will manage property accounting operations, supervise AP/AR functions, and partner with operations teams to drive financial performance. Responsibilities Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting. Manage property accounting for commercial and residential assets. Supervise AP, AR, and third-party accounting providers. Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actual performance. Ensure GAAP compliance, internal controls, and audit readiness. Drive process improvements and accounting system efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related. 5+ years of property accounting experience within commercial real estate. Experience managing accounting staff and/or third-party accounting teams. Required Skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Preferred Skills Experience with Yardi or similar property management software. Knowledge of real estate investment and management principles.
